Our Approach

Stop wasting words

We’ll give all staff in your school an alternative to wasting their words. You know the kind of thing.

“Why did you do that?”
“How many times have I told you?”
“I’m waiting!”
“It’s too noisy!”

We’ve all been guilty of this now and again, but highly effective teachers are constantly reminding students about instructions, recognising and rewarding those following instructions, or delivering consequences. If they are not doing one of these three things, then they’re building relationships and teaching.

Wasted words are the product of not being given appropriate shared language within a whole-school system. Get this right and you’ll see how all of our words can have a positive impact.

If we don’t ration our intervention, what we say evaporates.”                           Sir Alex Ferguson.

Good schools choose their words carefully and this helps ensure consistency.

We told you not to touch but you
couldn't help yourself, could you?

Telling children what you want is much more effective than telling them what you don't want. Now it's time to get in touch.

Would it help if we told you not to?
